The Guernsey Military Vehicle Group was proud to take part in the Thomson Memorial Trust Fun Day on Saturday 8th September 2012.

The group had a static display of twelve military vehicles at the event, which was held at Rue Mainguy Scout Headquarters from 2:00pm until 10:00pm.

The display included several jeeps, a couple of motorbikes, a number of trucks, plus an ambulance. On show for the first time was Simon van der Tang's recently purchased 1942 GMC CCKW-353. This particular vehicle (which has an air compressor fitted on the back) only arrived on the Island a couple of weeks before the event.

Vince Blampied (the Guernsey Military Vehicle Group member who organised the display) was extremely pleased with the turnout of vehicles. The display featured Vince's 1975 Dnepr MT-9 motorbike and sidecar that he and Stuart Dyer only finished rebuilding at 9:00pm the night before!

The Thomson Memorial Trust is a charitable trust set up to provide assistance, financial or otherwise, to anyone who suffers hardship as a result of an accident. For more information about the trust visit their Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/thomsontrust01.
